Our school’s Spelling BEE Winner was 1st place Carla Jimarez this is her second year in a row, 2nd place Desiree Manzanilla and 3rd place Diego Melendrez. Carla will represent our school at the County Spelling Bee on March 7th at Cal State Channel Islands University. Congratulations!
I want to remind you that the safety of our students is very important. Please remember, that in the drop off circles, particularly the circle at the back of the school, along the alley and in the front of the school- these are areas with a high traffic volume and we need your cooperation to help the flow of traffic and to ensure that students are safe in school. Therefore, please remind students to exit the vehicle anywhere on the yellow zone of the circles. Please do not wait until your vehicle is at the front of the school entrance, that slows traffic and vehicles end up backing up to the street. Also do not park on the drop off circles. If you need to park because you do not see your child, do so in the street. We are fortunate to have the volunteer services of Mr. Robert Ybarra, but not so in the back of the school.
Tardiness and Absences
If your child is late to school or needs to miss due to an illness or a medical appointment please make sure you call the school at 986-8740.
Some of you have received a letter of notification for excessive tardiness and/or absences. Another letter will be going out soon. Remember that having 9 unexcused absences or tardiness may result in fines of up to $240 per day. My goal is that we don’t have to send any! Thank you for working with us.

We have several projects taking place from Jan. 26 to Feb. 06 we will be collecting Pennies for Patients for Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. This is a service project.
We are also collecting BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - If you eat General Mills and other products that have the $.10 box tops on the packaging, you can be supporting the Larsen School students! Just cut off and save the small box tops and keep them in a baggie. When you have accumulated a number of them, bring them to the office at school. The Box tops program gives our school over $100s every year! Our meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the Staff lounge. The next PTA Meeting will be Feb. 3, 2015. JOIN US! In February, we are focusing on the character pillar of Respect. Please spend time talking and writing about Every Day Heroes in our lives that exemplify the pillar of Respect. Students “caught” demonstrating a character counts pillar will get a “Gotcha” slip, and will be entered in a school raffle.
Our students are “on fire”, reading books and taking A.R. tests. Our 2nd-5th grade students are meeting their monthly goals consistently. Thank you for your support.
