GATE Program
The Hueneme School District serves approximately 1,000 identified gifted and talented students in grades 2-8. GATE testing is scheduled in the spring every year at each school for grades 3-7. Second graders are tested in the fall after STAR data is received. Parents and teachers may download the referral and parent permission forms from this website and submit them to the principal. Elementary sites offer GATE students at least one form of grouping in order to challenge them in their area(s) of strength. Additionally, an enrichment program is offered at each site, generally after school once a week. Advanced GATE Honors classes in all content areas are available at both junior highs for students who qualify.
