Achieve Success!!

We are nearly half way through our 2013-14 school year. Students are reading books daily for Accelerated Reader rewards. We are very proud of their success. Teachers are learning a new tracking system for reading progress called DIBELS. This program will help us track students' progress in each grade level in decoding, fluency and comprehension. Teachers will share it with you at report card time in March. We have successfully started a morning program for Rosetta Stone, a computer based language learning program.  Thirty-two students come early four days a week to improve their language skills. Our After School program recently added a new program for decoding, called SIPPS. Second and third grade students work in small groups to improve decoding skills and to improve reading.

Watch our newsletters for tips on web sites and activities to help students transition to the new Common Core Standards adopted nationwide. We are experimenting with the new standards this year, but the new Common Core will be in place for 2014-15. The goal of the new Common Core Standards is to prepare students to be college and career ready by the end of high school.
