I would like to introduce myself to all of you and give you a background of my work experiences that led to me becoming Principal of Sunkist Elementary School.
I graduated from Oxnard High School in 1992. I went to California State University, Chico to study Liberal Studies (Education) and Latin American Studies. During my time at the University, I studied abroad in Merida, Mexico where I lived and completed a 2 month internship at a Preschool. I graduated from CSU, Chico in 1997 and continued my credential program. I received my BCLAD (Spanish) Multiple Subjects Credential and Education Specialist (SPED) Credential in 1998. At that time, I decided to move back home to Oxnard and give back to the community.
I began working in Hueneme Elementary School District in August, 1998 as a Special Education Teacher at Art Haycox Elementary School. I worked in the Special Day Class for 4 years and the Resource Specialist Program for 2 years. While I was a teacher, I was also the After School Program Coordinator for 4 years and the Summer School Teacher in Charge for 4 years. In 2004, I moved to the District Office as Program Specialist for Special Education. In April 2006, I became Assistant Principal at Charles F. Blackstock Middle School. In August 2007, I became Assistant Principal at E.O. Green Middle School. In August 2008, I became Principal of Sunkist Elementary School.
I enjoy working in Oxnard and plan to continue to stay here for many, many years.
