Sunkist GATE Program
Our GATE program is taught by one Sunkist classroom teacher in an after school program. He develops enrichment and extension learning activities for the GATE students, engaging their higher level thinking skills, research skills, and presentation skills.
Mr. Juan Venegas is teaching the 3rd thru 6th grade classes this year. His classes are focused on the Natural Sciences, specifically the Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. Mr. Venegas has a partnership with the MERITO Program.
In addition to the after school enrichment opportunities, our classroom teachers are all trained in different ways to engage and enrich the general core curriculum for GATE students. Many teachers have been trained on the GATE Icons, and use them in the class with all students.
