Principal’s Message  Dr. Torres

             Your children and our teachers have been working very hard to master the new Ca Standards in core subjects such as Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, English Language Development this school.  You will get a report of your child’s progress towards mastery during Parent Conferences beginning Dec. 1st through December 12th. Please remember that we will have early dismissal during Parent Conferences.  The school library will remain open until 2:30 p.m. (early dismissal from the library is at 2:00 if you want to pick up your child early)

Rules for the Library and Computer Lab

  1. K-1 and 4th-5th have 15 minutes to check out books after school if they walk home.

  2. Students must have parent permission to stay in the library.

  3. Students can read books and take AR tests.

  4. Library sign out sheets will be posted in the front of the school.  Parents that are asking if their     child stayed will then have the opportunity to look for their child’s name on the sign in sheets.

  5. Library EARLY dismissal –3:15; ONLY IF parents/guardians are there to pick them up.   Regular Dismissal- is at 3:45.

    Homework Help K-1:

    Homework Help is offered two days a week in K-1:

  • Tuesday and Thursday for Kinder Students from 2:50 – 3:50 PM.

  • Monday and Wednesday for First Grade students from 2:50-3:50 PM.


Hooray for our Larsen Families!  The Larsen PTA just completed a very successful Membership Drive, thanks to all your support.  It’s not too late to join.  Contact the office for information.  We are now collecting the sales money from our Signature Fall Fundraiser.  The proceeds from our fundraiser help your children with a number of learning necessities including technology, field trips, assemblies, playground equipment, and Red Ribbon Week.  Your PTA Board is planning many exciting events, including Santa’s Workshop, the Winter Program, and McTeachers Night.  You are welcome to join us and participate in your child’s PTA.  The board normally meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:00pm in the teacher’s lounge.  Our next meeting is November 4th at 3pm.  We look forward to your input as we make plans to help our kids. 


We are encouraging all students to read by giving Silent Reading Time School Wide for about 15-25 minutes.

* November-Class Decorated Door showcasing your favorite book/author

*December-Become an author/study an author

*January - 4-5th and K-3 will team up to read a book.

*February-Write a letter to an author

*March-Dr. Seuss-Read Across America activities

*April-Decorate Cereal boxes with your favorite author

*May-2 reps to impersonate an influential personality—research a real individual—create realia to support your show.

Nov. 2 – Daylight savings time. (Move clocks back one hour)

Nov. 4 – PTA Meeting at 3:00 p.m.

Nov 4- Library will be closed all day for voting

Nov. 10-11 - Veteran’s Day, No school

Nov. 13- Picture Retake for students who were absent on picture day

Nov. 4 and 24-26 – All Kinder comes to school in the morning (8:05-11:26)

Nov. 20- ELAC meeting at 6:00pm in the cafeteria

Nov. 26 – Minimum Day School- dismissal at 11:10 a.m.

Nov. 27-28 – Thanksgiving Holiday – No School

Dec 01-Dec 12 – Parent Conferences begin,

Dismissal at 1st-3rd=1:20 & 4th-5th=1:40

Dec. 6- Saturday Attendance Academy

  • Starting and Ending of the school day- Students should not be in school prior to 7:30AM. (School starts at 8:10AM)

    Please, help us keep your child safe by dropping them off in the morning no earlier than 7:30 am. Have them walk to the campus and remind them to choose:

    • The library
    • Computer Lab
    • Breakfast 1st-2nd 7:45-8:10/ 3rd-5th 8:10

    When school is dismissed ask your child to go straight home unless they have arranged with you to stay for the following:

    • GATE on Tuesdays
    • ASES (only for enrolled students)
    • Library
    • Computer Lab
