If your child will not be returning for the 2015/2016 school year please notify the school office as soon as possible. This year we already started our registration process.  If you need to register a Transitional Kinder (TK), Kinder or new student registration packets are available in the office.  Kinder- students must be 5 by Sept. 1, 2015.  TK is also available for students that are born from 9/2/10 to 12/2/10.  Transitional Kinder is the first year of a two-year kindergarten. Sunkist has TK in Spanish turn in the application in or office we will send it.

Staff Appreciation Day

Larsen Elementary Teachers and Staff are among the very best.  Wednesday, May 13th “is the Board Approved Day of the Teacher and Classified Week is on May 18th-22nd.  If you wish, you may also take the opportunity for you to say “thank you” to your children’s teachers and staff. Most appreciated are heartfelt notes from you and your child — notes that describe personal positive experiences and thankfulness. Other suggestions are:  a special drawing by your child telling why his or her teacher is great, a flower; a new book for the classroom; a gift certificate or items used regularly in the classroom.  Larsen will have a special luncheon on May 19th for the staff.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place the week of May 11th-May 15th.  During this week students will be dismissed early. Students in 1st-3rd grade will dismiss at 1:20 p.m.  Students in 4th- 5th grade will dismiss at 1:40 p.m.  Kinder classes will keep to their regular schedule.  The library and computer lab will remain open until 2:45 as usual. [REMEMBER: 2:15 is the early pick-up time from the library, in case you do not want to have your child stay the entire period.]   Lastly, the library and lab will be opened until June 8th.  

NEWS FROM THE PTA-

Thank you for your overwhelming support of the World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser.  The proceeds will go towards the 5th graders end-of-year field trip and Larsen’s technology needs.  Also on our horizon are the annual Volunteer Luncheon which will be held in the cafeteria and the Student of the Year Field Trip.  Our next meeting will be May 5th at 3pm in the teacher’s lounge.  We appreciate your continuing support and participation in YOUR PTA.

Testing

All 3rd through 5th grade students will test from April 27th – May 22nd.  It is very important that all of our students attend each day of testing. In the State of California, all students in grades 3 through 12 participate in the State Testing.  The test includes the Language Arts and Mathematics Standards for all grade levels.  Fifth grade students have a science standards test. 

The test measures our students’ progress.  The test is designed to assess whether students have mastered grade level standards.  I am asking that all parents/guardians make sure that students attend everyday on time during the testing period, get a good night sleep the night before each test, eat a good breakfast each morning, and, most importantly, give their very best effort on each and every section of the test.

Parent Presentation

We will plan on a presentation in Spanish of a healthy recipe from 8:45-9:45 am on Friday May 22nd. We will discuss the recipe, the ingredients, distribute a copy of the recipe, and provide a taste sample.

Larsen’s Talent Show will take place on June 12th 2015.

We are looking for students eager to perform before the whole student body!  You can lip sing, dance, play a musical instrument, etc.  All you need is the willingness to show off your talents.  You can perform individually, paired, or in a group of 5 or less. You may audition for ONE group ONLY. 


You may also audition for the M.C. (Master of Ceremonies).  


All students interested in performing will need to:

  • Inform your teacher to sign you up for an audition. 

  • Deadline to sign up will be May 17th!

  • Prepare for your audition on May 19th.  Start practicing NOW!!!

  • Starting and Ending of the school day- Students should not be in school prior to 7:30AM. (School starts at 8:10AM)

    Please, help us keep your child safe by dropping them off in the morning no earlier than 7:30 am. Have them walk to the campus and remind them to choose:

    • The library
    • Computer Lab
    • Breakfast 1st-2nd 7:45-8:10/ 3rd-5th 8:10

    When school is dismissed ask your child to go straight home unless they have arranged with you to stay for the following:

    • GATE on Tuesdays
    • ASES (only for enrolled students)
    • Library
    • Computer Lab
