November News!

Hathaway community members,

Our staff continues working extra hard to make this year be the best possible year for your children, our school and community. You may be aware that at our most recent Governing Board meeting, the board discussed the current COVID-19 case rate data for our local area. While there continues to be improvement, our area still has some of the highest case rates and case positivity numbers in Ventura County. The Governing Board is concerned about the safety of our students and staff and continues to take a very cautious approach. At this time, with the exception of some small group cohorts in specialized programs, HESD will continue with distance learning at least through winter break. While we are waiting to open for in-person instruction, we are planning and preparing to ensure that when the time is right; our campuses will be ready to safely welcome students back.

Although school schedules continue to reflect the COVID-19 pandemic, daily school attendance returns to being mandatory per California Department of Education (CDE). Attendance will continue to be taken daily by each teacher during the live-virtual instructional period.

Finally, while we continue with distance learning, Hathaway teachers and I are  ask that when students are in their virtual classroom that students have their video camera on unless their teacher has given them permission to not have it on. If you or your student has a concern regarding having their video on during instruction, please contact me.

Thank you for your on-going support and partnership.

Sincerely,
